Review: Learning by doing - an excursion to the Bitburger Land golf resort

Instead of swotting up on learning field 12 (Helping to shape entrepreneurial action / Analyzing external influences on the economic situation of companies) in the classroom and on a laptop, two participants in the 3rd year of the tourism management apprenticeship visited the Bitburger Land golf resort in November 2023, where they were welcomed by Roman Graf (Managing Partner, Graf Golf GmbH) and Clive Bond (golf instructor, Bitgolf Academy).

First, Roman Graf and Clive Bond held a discussion on the topic of golf and tourism (marketing the course, cooperations, events, etc.) in the newly designed clubhouse. The external influences (e.g. the coronavirus pandemic, economic situation, inflation), opportunities and risks were discussed openly.  This can now be built on in further vocational school lessons as a concrete example object. And the sale of golf trips or the development of cooperations in everyday training will certainly also be easier.

But what would a visit to a golf course be without playing a few golf balls yourself? And so it was off to the driving range with Clive Bond, where the basic concepts of a golf course and the game of golf were explained.
