Euro-BBW employees on work shadowing in Ireland

This week, five employees of the Euro-BBW are in Dublin, Ireland, to work at Ballyfermot College of Further Education and Pearce College. This stay abroad is funded by the EU Erasmus+ program.

The exchange with Ballyfermot College is particularly interesting for colleagues from the fields of media design and IT. That is why our trainers Andreas Flesch, Klaus Hofmann and our vocational school teacher Harry Morrison also visited the college. For example, they were able to experience some of the work of the immersive media department first-hand in the VR studio and accompany budding game designers in their concept work. The training in media design and art is extremely extensive at Ballyfermot College. There is a separate department for 3D animation, nude drawing, printing techniques, typography and a rock school.

Our carpentry trainers Josef Schon and Niko Simon, on the other hand, visited Pearce College, where they looked over the shoulders of the budding carpenters and gained an insight into Level 6 carpentry training. There are differences between Ireland and Germany when it comes to working in a carpentry workshop and the use of tools and machines, which our two trainers found quite exciting.

In both colleges, our colleagues naturally also learned a lot about the Irish education system from the staff there and exchanged views on the differences and similarities between the German and Irish education systems and our institutions.

Of course, there was never a dull moment in Dublin in their free time, as there are many cultural highlights: for example, a visit to the Irish Museum of Modern Art and "The Book of Kells Experience" in Trinity College as well as a tour of the oldest whiskey distillery in Dublin rounded off the stay.

A travel blog about the visit will be kept at https://www.tumblr.com/dublin2024. Our colleagues have already published some great photos and experiences here.
