Back in the far north

Our guests from Oulu in the north of Finland, about 2000 km away, have meanwhile arrived back home safe and sound. The two-week internship in Bitburg has advanced and strengthened them both professionally and personally.

As part of the long-standing partnership between the European Vocational Training Center and the Luovi Vocational Institute in Oulu, Finland, six Finnish trainees and two supervisors were in Bitburg for a two-week internship. The two prospective media designers and the two housekeepers were assigned to the corresponding training groups at the Euro-BBW. A future house technician spent his internship partly in the area of gardening and landscaping, partly in our house technology, and a prospective sales assistant worked in the REWE market in the neighborhood of the Euro-BBW.

In their free time, the Finns did some things on their own and some things together with Anne Unfried (coordinator of the Erasmus+ projects) and Johannes Alff (leisure coordinator). Apart from the numerous Christmas markets in the region, our guests were particularly impressed by the Devil's Gorge near Irrel and the Vianden Castle as well as the Roman buildings in Trier, as there are none like them in the whole of Finland. Of course, a visit to the Bitburger Marken- und Erlebniswelt (Bitburger brand and experience world) was not to be missed, as Bitburger Pils is also very well known in Finland. A welcome party at the beginning and a farewell dinner at the end of the stay ensured friendly cohesion among all participants. We are already looking forward to the next exchange with Luovi College!

The professional internship abroad is financed with funds from the ERASMUS+ program of the European Union.
