News II from the climate project

In November 2021, the Euro-BBW was approved a project for the new installation of several cisterns and solar sails on its premises under the funding guideline "Climate adaptation in social institutions" of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).

After the soil excavation for the cisterns and the trenches for the water intake as well as the associated electrical connections were carried out, the cisterns were lowered into the pits today with the help of a crane. However, there is still some more work to be done before we can use the cisterns to irrigate our 7-hectare outdoor area. Another function of the cisterns is to prevent damage from flooding during heavy rain events by serving as buffer storage.

There is also news on the solar sails: The sails were also installed last week and now offer our trainees protection from heat and sunburn during the summer weather. Now the training areas can be used all year round without exposing our trainees and employees to any health hazards.
