News from Crete

Our future gardeners and carpenters are currently working on their respective projects in bright sunshine, 28 degrees and with a magnificent view of the Mediterranean.

While the carpenters are busy repairing chairs and making formwork and a railing for the gardeners, their gardening colleagues are concreting floor slabs and building stairs and altars for the meditation path that is to be completed this year. For this, the natural stones first have to be worked into steps and wall stones - a particularly strenuous job, especially in these temperatures. So the creation of mosaics and wall mosaics offers a welcome change. Even a bridge was completely fitted out with a floor mosaic. The photos give an impressive overview of all the work that has been done so far.

Surprisingly and unplanned, our cook trainer Günter Halfmann and two of his trainees also travelled to Crete at the end of last week to help cook Jiannis, who lost some of his staff, to feed over 100 people.

Tomorrow the further training for educational staff will start, which is also funded by Erasmus+ and will be attended by Michael Hemmes (head of department at the Euro-BBW), Sabine Kinn-Dippel (vocational school teacher) as well as Jürgen Otten (trainer of our gardeners).

We are already looking forward to further news from our travel group and wish them a lot of fun and good luck on Crete!
