Information trip of our tourism trainees to Athens

A report by our trainee Kevin Fernandez-Steinmetz

From March 4 to 8, 2024, we had the opportunity to explore Athens as part of an information trip for the tourism department (Tourism and Leisure Management Assistants). Athens is the capital of Greece and is rich in history and culture. Here you can find out what we found particularly worth seeing and what our highlights were.

Our trip began in Luxembourg, where we flew with Swiss Airlines to Zurich before traveling on from Zurich to Athens. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed and immediately soaked up the lively atmosphere of the city. In the evening, we were able to get our first taste of Greek food.

The following day, we made our way to the Acropolis, one of the most impressive ancient monuments in the world. The views and the nature around it were spectacular and a must-see for every culture lover. The next day, we continued with a hop-on hop-off tour. We took a double-decker through the city center of Athens to Piraeus. Here we had another look at the beautiful harbor and a small but pleasant beach. On our last day, we continued with two hotel visits.

The 4-star hotel "Grecotel Pallas Athena" scores particularly well with its uniquely designed rooms. There were rooms based on characters such as "Batman" or "Spiderman". The 5-star hotel "The Dolli" impressed us with its aesthetics, the impressive 3.5-meter doors, the rooftop bar and the infinity pool. We were able to capture the highlights with a 360-degree camera, which we will incorporate into our final project "Tourism of the future".

We all had a great overall experience and can only recommend a city trip to Athens
