Career guidance
An aptitude assessment can generally be formed over 20 working days, or 4 weeks. A clear career orientation normally already exists. The assessment should above all provide:
- clarification as to whether the personal perceptions of the aspired profession are similar to the actual requirements
- clarification as to whether a candidate shows sufficient ability and interest for the aspired profession
- clarification as to whether the commitment and initiative required to learn the aspired profession already exists
Occasionally a trial work placement is carried out to discover whether a participant is at all able to profit from occupational rehabilitation measures.
At the Euro-BBW the trial placements are arranged mainly within the respective field of work. The participants become integrated in the first-year course in the aspired profession and gain a hands-on experience of daily life as a trainee.
The career orientation generally spans 40 - 60 working days, or two to three months. This program gives the opportunity to try several fields of work, forming the basis on which a clear career decision can be made. The participant undergoes a four week trial placement in each profession; thus being able to test a maximum of three different professions.
The aims of a career orientation are above all:
- clarification as to which profession most suits the candidates interests and abilities
- clarification as to the special support required (if any) for a start as a trainee
- clarification as to whether the commitment and initiative required to learn the aspired profession already exists
The career orientation participants are integrated, in a similar way to those on the trial placements, in the trainee groups learning the respective profession.
