Una cálida bienvenida!

Last week, two employees of the Spanish non-profit organisation Gureak from San Sebastián visited the European Vocational Training Center. The two were visiting several institutions in the region as part of the Erasmus+ programme. After employees of the Euro-BBW already visited Gureak in 2019, we had to postpone the return visit again and again due to the Corona pandemic and were therefore very pleased that we could finally welcome Josune and Zigor with us.

At the Euro-BBW they were first welcomed by Anita Sonndag, head of the centre, before Ronald Fröhling, head of the psychosocial support department, explained the holistic care of the participants in our facility. Afterwards, Brigitte Frensemeier, employee of the integration counseling of the Euro-BBW, presented the support of the participants during the transition from training to the labor market. After a joint lunch, Angela Schneider and Anne Unfried, staff members of Quality and Development/Erasmus+, guided the guests through the various buildings of the Euro-BBW.

Josune and Zigor spent the second day of their visit at the DRK-Sozialwerk in Bernkastel-Kues. The DRK-Sozialwerk is an innovative social services company that offers a diverse range of services in the areas of leisure, housing and work for people with mental and/or physical disabilities, mental illness and social difficulties. The stay in Bernkastel was rounded off with a visit to the wine museum and a guided tour of the beautiful Moselle town.

On Thursday morning, our guests visited the youth welfare centre Don Bosco Helenenberg. The youth welfare centre offers various forms of housing and care for currently about 200 young people aged 9 to 22 years, who either attend the in-house elementary, secondary and special school or are in a vocational orientation or qualification measure or vocational training. In the afternoon, they went to Trier, where Josune and Zigor visited the "learn-factory" of the Caritas Association. The learn-factory offers various forms of support for young people with special needs on their way from school to a suitable career choice and training and finally to entering working life. They finished off the rest of the day with a sightseeing tour of Trier.
