Sunny and shady sides of travel

Last week, the Euro-BBW hosted an internal trade fair congress on the topic of "Sustainable Travel", which this year's graduates of the tourism department organized as part of their final project in cooperation with their colleagues from the media design and home economics departments.

Which vacation destinations are currently popular with tourists, what problems exist there, and how can these destinations be traveled to more sustainably? These were the questions our tourism classes asked themselves and looked at in more detail, leading to the concept for the trade show day: Exhibition stands with posters on the tourist highlights of all continents and their downsides, as well as a corresponding lecture program with proposed solutions on how to travel to these highlights in a more sustainable way for people and nature.

Once the theme of the trade fair had been decided, our future media designers from the first year of their apprenticeship began to work on a concept for designing the numerous large posters for the trade fair booths - always in close cooperation with their colleagues from the tourism sector.

Our future home economists were also involved in the organization of the fair: As a project, they thought about what food and drinks to serve guests and how to decorate this stand with upcycled material they made themselves from fabric, cardboard, paper, wool.

The trainees of all three areas were well prepared on the day of the fair, but still a little excited - without reason, because the congress went smoothly and to everyone's satisfaction. Visitors were delighted with the impressive posters produced by our media designers, the well-designed presentations and the advice given at the booths by our tourism trainees, as well as the delicious snacks and drinks and the friendly service provided by our housekeepers. All in all, it was a complete success. Many thanks to all participants for this exciting and informative day!
