Tervetuloa in Bitburg!

Yesterday in the evening, six Finish trainees and two teachers finally arrived at Luxembourg airport after an exhausting journey from Oulu (Finland). They will stay in Bitburg for two weeks in order to complete internships at the Euro-BBW or at companies in Bitburg.

Since 2008, Luovi Vocational Institute in Oulu and the European Vocational Training Centre have been co-operating within the program Erasmus+ in order to send and host trainees. And so we are welcoming this morning two future IT specialists, two housekeepers and two sales assistants as well as two teachers from Nothern Finland at the Euro-BBW. After an official welcoming by our director, a guided tour of the Euro-BBW and a joint lunch, the trainees will get to know their internship places and their new colleagues for the next two weeks. The internships will start tomorrow, then the trainees can test their vocational skills in the German world of work which is completely new for them. By the way, we will communicate in English.

This evening, our colleagues Anne Unfried and Johannes Alff will discuss the leisure program with the Finish guests at a welcome party. So they will also have enough insights into the German culture during their stay. The proposal includes for example the visit of castles, a hiking tour at the “devil’s gorge“, a wine tasting and a visit of the brewery’s visitors’ centre. Furthermore, it would be a good idea to visit the “Beda-Markt” next weekend.

We warmly welcome our Finish guests and wish them a nice and interesting time in Bitburg!

This vocational internship is funded by means of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union which will also fund the return visit of Euro-BBW trainees in Finland in October 2019.
