Parlez-vous français?

A report by our trainees Tanja B. (KTF 18) and Vanessa H. (KTF 17)

On Thursday, 6th February, the French classes  of our tourism agents and chefs went to Trier in order to watch a French movie at the local cinema Broadway.

After all trainees had arrived at the cars of the BBW, the journey - expertly steered by Mrs Sommer-Schmeichel and Mrs Schütz - to Trier already started.

Arriving in Trier, after a short walk to the cinema itself, the trainees had to quickly provide for their physical well-being - popcorn and cola at moderate prices - and then they were all sitting in their own cinema auditorium and dedicated themselves to the film, which started promptly when the last person had taken a seat. They watched "Dans la terrible jungle".

The content of the film was not easy to digest for some people, as it was about a kind of institution for disabled people in France. La Pépinière, as the institution is called, is home to so many different people with small and big handicaps, that at first it is difficult to follow the plot.

Once you have memorized the faces of the actors, however, you can concentrate entirely on the story, the trainees said later. So there's the blind but all the more musical Ophélie, the boy in the superhero outfit whose name we don't get to know, or Médéric with his electric wheelchair and his penchant for unusual self-written stories and songs - and these are by no means all the people in this film who give their impairment a face.

The film itself still reverberated in our trainees for some time and of course they are already looking forward to the next French lesson of the cinematic kind!
