Oulun Kärpät and Karjalanpiirakka

Our trainees and colleagues have already passed half or their time in Finland and it does not seem to be boring :-)

After they ultimately arrived in Oulu, they first made themselves familiar with the environment, the partner institution Luovi Vocational Institut, the companies providing internships and Oulu, of course, where they could practice their English language skills.

On Thursday, they all started to work in their internship companies: Our future gardener (landscape gardening and horticulture) works in the botanic garden of the University of Oulu, the two future joiners are employed in the Center of sustainable development, a company that makes new furniture from recycled material and also prepares old furniture. Our future management assistant for retail services has a taste of work in the K-supermarket Hovihalli Anttila, and our two IT specialist trainees work in the IT department of the Luovi Vocational Institut itself.

Although the group already gave up hope, they eventually managed to watch an ice hockey playoff quarter final of the Oulun Kärpät (ice hockey team of Oulu) live.

Like in former Finland trips they also visited Ranua Wildlife Park during a weekend, this time together with two Spanish exchange students. In beautiful weather (but bitter cold) they watched domestic wild animals and had a tasty lunch with Finish delicacies and chocolate.

The next day an interactive cooking event was organized for all fans of Finish culinary delights. Everybody was involved to prepare the meals for the menu. Since this evening, our group knows what „Karjalanpiirakka“ and Cloudberries are.

P.S. This exchange takes place within the framework of the programme „Erasmus+ Mobility“.
