Campaign "School and taxes" at the Euro-BBW

Do you remember your first tax return and the frustration when collecting and sorting the documents and completing the form? In order to prevent our participants of pre-vocational training measures from this frustration and to impart knowledge about taxes and the tax return we participated in the campaign „School and taxes“ of the tax offices of Rhineland-Palatinate and invited two taxmen to the European Vocational Training Centre. In a double lesson, Marina Bartzen and Stefan Bayerschen, collaborators of the tax office of Bitburg, introduced our participants to the German tax system by means of comprehensible examples from daily life. What’s the purpose of taxes, which kinds of taxes do exist and what happens with the citizen’s money? They also discussed topics such as fair taxation, illegal work or tax fraud and mentioned the professions dealing with taxes. They made a clear and playful approach to these usually rather dry subjects and our participants payed attention to the lesson with great interest.
Background: With the campaign „School and taxes“ the tax offices of Rhineland-Palatinate want to influence future tax payers positively and eliminate common prejudices. You can find more information about the campaign at www.lfst.fin-rlp.de.
