Award ceremony of the stock exchange business game

As it was already mentioned in the news article „Pecunia non olet“ a playgroup of the Euro-BBW achieved again a great position at the annual stock exchange business game which is organised by the regional savings bank (Kreissparkasse Bitburg-Prüm). The group called „Stratton Oakmont Re-Reloaded“ (the name reveals that it’s not the first participation)  could secure second place within the catchment area of the regional savings bank of Bitburg-Prüm and 17th place within the catchment area of Rhineland-Palatinate. The group was composed of the trainees Petra B., Lisa T. and Nils W.. Mr. Jagsch was our proud trainer. In order to honour the winners, the savings banks of Bitburg-Prüm, Trier, Mittelmosel and Vulkaneifel organised a guided tour at the local newspaper „Trierischer Volksfreund“ and the visit of a basketball match of the local club “Gladiators Trier” on 3rd February 2017.

At Trierischer Volksfreund we had an interesting guided tour. We got insight into the production of newspapers and magazines, from raw paper to a printed magazine. The production halls and printing machines were monumental and loud. A marketing employee explained some facts about the newspaper and its production. Trierischer Volksfreund was founded in 1875 and it appeared every day except 3 times due to the 2nd World War. We were also convinced of the newspaper’s currency as our photo which was made at about 5 pm already appeared the next day! After the guided tour we went to the Arena Trier where the official part of the evening should take place.

At the Arena the savings bank served some snacks and soft drinks before the official certificates and vouchers were handed over. When we got our voucher we were surprised that our award amounted to 350 Euro instead of 150 Euro. Afterwards we moved on to the „grand final“ of our program, the Pro A league match of the „Gladiators Trier“ vs „99 Chemnitz“. The match was full of energy and Trier showed a great performance. At the end, the Gladiators won with 71 vs 58 points.

We had a wonderful afternoon and evening. We do not know yet what we will do with our voucher – perhaps we will invest in stocks. It was worth it ;-)
