"Sami" on the road in Oulu

After two years of "Corona break" finally five trainees and three employees of the Euro-BBW could travel again to our partner institution Luovi Vocational College in Oulu/Finland. There - and in the botanical gardens of the University of Oulu - the trainees from the gardening and landscaping, home economics and kitchen and media design will complete a two-week internship within the framework of Erasmus+.

The journey from Luxembourg via Copenhagen and Helsinki to Oulu was a bit exhausting, even for plush bear "Sami", who is accompanying our travel group as mascot this year. But after the arrival and the warm welcome by the Erasmus coordinator Miia, all exertions were forgotten and in a good mood we could enjoy an unusual pizza à la Finland, which was not topped with salami and mushrooms, but with peach and reindeer.

Rested and strengthened, our group then went on a sightseeing tour of Oulu the next day in marvellous weather - without caps and scarves. Until now, the Finnish internships always took place in March or April, where thermal underwear and lined jackets and boots could not be missing in the luggage.

In the meantime, our travelers have also visited the zoo in Ranua (Lapland), about 150 kilometers from Oulu. In this zoo one can admire animals like brown bears, snowy owls, musk oxen, moose or wolves.

On Monday the internships started in the different areas of the Luovi College or in the botanical gardens. We are already curious what our trainees will report about it.

Of course, there is also a blog from this trip with many photos and funny stories: https://finnland2022.tumblr.com/.
