“Rehabilitation days” seminar for our new participants
On Thursday and Friday, two “Rehabilitation Days” were held at the Euro-BBW for the first time. This event was developed and carried out by employees and was aimed at trainees in their first year of training and participants who are currently undergoing aptitude testing or work trials. The aim of the rehabilitation days was to present the work of the rehab team and the support planning at the Euro-BBW and to motivate the participants to get actively involved in the rehab process.
At the beginning of the seminar, five participants each made two statements relating to support planning, which were followed by lively participation from the audience who shared their own experiences.
At the Euro-BBW, the so-called rehab team is responsible for the support planning of each individual participant and is made up of employees from training, the vocational school, psychosocial support and the residential area and, of course, the participant him/herself. A film produced by Reinhard Weides (IT trainer) was used to illustrate how the rehab team works together and what a BBW actually is.
In subsequent group work, the participants dealt with the guiding principle of the Euro-BBW and the meaning of the individual terms as well as with tasks relating to the concept of respect, the topic of support planning and the bio-psychosocial model of the ICF. The support plan discussion was also focused on and the extent to which everyone can contribute to an optimal process was explored together. In the afternoon, the support needs of the fictitious trainee Berta Birne were examined and support goals were developed using the SMART rule.
On Friday, the findings and results of the previous day were explored in more depth and then support measures and their connection to the support goals were considered and goals and measures were jointly formulated.
Eight small groups designed wedge frames on the topic “Support planning takes place at eye level” and presented them to the whole group at the end of the event.
We would like to thank the lecturers Hiltrud Wagner and Katharina Schmitt as well as our employees Andreas Bartsch and Robert Heinz for the excellent organization of the seminar and for the exciting exchange and interesting results! We are already looking forward to the next Rehab Days!
