Off to Crete

On Sunday, a total of 10 trainees and 4 employees of the Euro-BBW set off for Luxembourg airport to begin their journey to Crete. There - to be precise: in Kolymbari - the annual 14-day inter-company training course of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture on the topic of "Natural stone use and processing" awaits them. The group consists of 5 apprentices in horticulture and landscape gardening, 3 prospective carpenters and 2 apprentices in home economics, and will be accommodated as usual in the Orthodox Academy in Kolymbari. This measure is supported by the EU program Erasmus+ Mobility.

Background: Already since 1996 there is a partnership between the Orthodox Academy and the DLR in Oppenheim/Pfalz, in the context of which every year trainees of horiculture and landscape gardening complete this course and produce projects from local natural stones in the outdoor area of the academy. This year, our apprentice gardeners will again continue to work on the meditation path, while our apprentice carpenters will restore damaged chairs and tables and build a new railing.

After our cook instructor Günter Halfmann and two of his trainees spontaneously traveled to Crete last year to support the cook on site, they were scheduled to join this time and will be able to acquire a lot of knowledge about Greek cuisine and its specialties.

We wish our trainees and colleagues a good trip and an interesting, exciting and beautiful stay in Crete! Come back safe and sound!
