Salesmen/women principally work in
retail companies or in specialized
departments in trade firms.
Based on a good general training in
trade, salesmen may specialize in different
types of ranges and goods, for
example: clothes, furniture, foods,
household electrical appliances,
sports or decoration goods, gifts...
Beside a professional presentation
and sale of goods, they may also fulfill
tasks in purchase or in the customer
department or in marketing. Within
the framework of vocational rehabilitation
in the Euro–BBW, the training
takes place in the retail firm "Pffifikus,
Shop & Bistro."
Pfiffikus does not only offer gifts and
decorative goods but also snacks and
drinks.
The store in the city centre of Bitburg
is used as a windows display for the
European Vocational Training Centre
but it particularly serves the integration
into the ordinary labour market, too.
Training periods in retail firms and
trade companies are included into the
regular training offer by the Euro-BBW.
Salesmen/women conduct sales and
counselling conversations, are familiar
with the activities of a cashier, and
assume tasks in merchandise
management and marketing. Of course
they have knowledge of a great
and varied range of products.
Beyond the professional competences
mentioned above, the vocational profile
requires to a great measure a selfconfident
behaviour, good manners,
empathy, the ability to give advice to
customers, but also flexibility, capacities
for organisation and for teamwork.
Special additional qualifications
in foreign languages or in EDP increase
the chances of being employed.
