MediengestalterA new job outline for Media Designers for digital and print media was introduced in summer 1998 as the result of the change in requirements in the print and media sector. An universal occupation for this sector was developed in view of the rapid further development of information and communication technology.
The varied responsibilities of this profession include putting together texts, pictures and graphics to produce a meaningful overall image and on this basis developing advertisements, brochures, catalogues, packaging, publications and digital media.
Media designers work in marketing communication agencies, design studios, companies engaged in printing and media economy, media services, publishing houses as well as marketing and communication departments of enterprises and public institutes.
In 2007 it turned out to be necessary to revise and optimize the examination structure, contents and aims. Furthermore it was time to reattribute the profiles of the different fields and to adapt them to the structures of the training companies. The job title as well was renamed as Designer of digital and print media (m/f).

Vocational Skills

MediengestalterDesigners of digital and print media are characterized by design and creative skills that they combine with accuracy of detail and technical understanding. The occupation is modern, future-oriented and places high demands on the trainee’s communicative competence and ability to work in a team. Customer care and consulting require a pronounced capability of solving problems and skilful use of state-of-the-art communication technology.
The occupation is divided into four specialized fields - of which media design and technology are offered at the Euro- BBW. To implement the training subjects, special importance is attached to instruction on a project- and order-oriented basis. For this purpose the training groups take on orders in the area of digital and print artwork, develop concepts for them and organize and execute them on their own responsibility. Modern Apple computers as well as numerous up-to-date software products are available for these tasks. The training makes use of state-of-the- art technology.
