In principle, Office Clerks can work in
all enterprises of trade, of industry, of
craft, of the service sector as well as
in independent professions.
In the European Vocational Training
Centre Bitburg, the place of learning
for Office Clerks is the practice firm
"Travel Shopping & More GmbH ".
As a member of the German association
of practice firms, the company has
a product range encompassing travel
of all kinds as well as a broad selection
of additional products involving all
aspects of travel and is able to establish
business contacts to more than
600 other practice firms all over
Germany and even more than 4000
practice firms worldwide at present.
Particularly the European market of
practice firms plays a major role here,
as documented not least of all by the
regular participation in international
practice firm trade fairs.
Taking action on the basis of personal
responsibility and the methodical
approach of the trainees characterize
to a high degree the action-oriented
methodology of the practice firm as a
place of learning.
Office Clerks deal above all with the costing department, with accountancy, wage and salary accounting, statistics as well as with general administrative tasks. With the help of EDP they settle the incidental correspondence, deal with questions of taxes and stock and sale figures. Within the framework of the processing of orders they establish invoices, monitor incoming payments and institute necessary dunning procedures. If they work in the administration of inventory, they check and stock incoming goods, control stocks, establish statistics and monitor storage costs. Their activities could also involve tasks in the distribution, purchase and sales department. In order to be able to complete their miscellaneous tasks efficiently, Office Clerks have to be familiar with the current hardware and software.
