That’s what winners look like!

At night from 10 to 11 March 2017, a marching group of the Euro-BBW (Mrs Wurzer, Mr Sehr and Mrs Simon) took part in the 34th competition of the Schnee-Eifel cup in Bitburg.

This orienteering march was organized by the state head quarter of Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz under the leadership of commander colonel Erwin Mattes. 18 teams from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg accepted the challenge and entered the contest. Commander colonel Erwin Mattes could not believe that three teachers of the Euro-BBW Bitburg take upon this torture voluntarily and asked for the necessary skills and knowledge. The overnight march of (at least) 50 km went from Bitburg Bitburg-Mötsch via Rittersdorf, Ließem, Oberweiler Plütscheid, Lampertsberg, Waxweiler, Bellscheid, Ringhuscheid, Burscheid and Scheuerdell to Utscheid – uphill and downhill.

Besides searching for the routes on maps by means of coordinates, differences in altitude and march numbers, we had to solve 16 tasks. After 17 hours and 37 minutes of mental and physical efforts the team arrived happily, a bit tired and physically exhausted at the destination and was rewarded with 12th place.

Every year, the Euro-BBW marching group is looking for willing team members who would like to accept the challenge mentally and physically and to increase team spirit. So, how about you? Will you take part next time? Please contact Michael Sehr (vocational school).
