Head for the North!

On 26th March, six trainees will travel again with three attendants to Oulu in Finland.

In less than three weeks our six trainees and three attendants have to pack their bags and go the airport with destination Oulu, Finland, where they will pass two weeks for internships in companies matching to their respective professions. This exchange takes place within the framework of the program Erasmus+ Mobility and continues the exchange between Luovi Vocational Institute in Oulu and European Vocational Training Centre in Bitburg already existing since 2008.

The group of trainees is composed of two IT specialists, one management assistant for retail services, two kitchen assistants and one gardener who are already excited and full of anticipation for their stay abroad. Yesterday, Ms Johanna Terhemaa, Finland Institute in Berlin, visited us in order to prepare the trainees for their stay in Finland and inform them about country and culture so that they won’t be surprised by Finnish habits. Besides general information, practical tips for daily life in Finland and a geographical overview she gave a present to the travelers as well as a small language course in Finnish. But the group does not have to communicate in Finnish as nearly everybody speaks English in Finland. That is why the group takes part in a separate English course.

Afterwards our employee Anne Unfried informed the group about the whole course of the trip by means of a Prezi presentation (journey to destination, board and lodging, trips, internship companies, working hours, leisure time, and departure) and delivered travel guides, pocket dictionaries and language guides Finnish etc. Furthermore she informed the trainees about Erasmus+, the budget and encouraged the attendants to write a blog again during the stay.

We wish you a safe journey and a great time in Finland!
